Welcome to the School Council blog. In this blog you will see all the fantastic work the School Council are doing at Barford.

Food Taster Session - 8th February 2018

At Barford we are always looking to add more variety to the school dinner menus.

Today’s taster session foods were Chicken Lasagne and Aloo Poori.

After the food had been tasted by the school councillors, the school councillors voted on their favourite dish:-

•Chicken Lasagne - 5 likes
•Aloo Poori – 5 likes

The Chicken Lasagne and Aloo Poori dishes have been approved by the School Council and will be added to the school dinner menu.

Look out for the dishes on the School Dinner Menu in the Spring Term.

A big thank you to Mrs Janagal and Pat from the Kitchen for organising the food taster session.

Photos of the taster session and feedback forms can be viewed below.

Peace Summit 2017 Update - 10th November 2017

There is now a page on the Peacemakers website with feedback from the Peace Summit. There are photos, a video and the children's pledges and messages.  There was a huge amount of information to sift through and hundreds of photos so I've had to be selective.

Peace Summit 2017 - 21st September 2017

The School Council were invited to celebrate International Peace Day and West Midlands Quaker Peace Education Project’s 30th birthday at mac Birmingham, on Thursday 21 September. The School Council were joined by other pupils from different Schools all around Birmingham.

The Children discussed peace, and together, came up with a pledge and a communique – a message to decision-makers in Birmingham and the West Midlands about what children would like to see happen in our region, to build more cohesive communities.

During the day the School Council explored peace through four themes:

  • Inner peace
  • Peace at school
  • Peace on the streets
  • Peace in the world

The School Council were also joined by Ray Douglas from Gangology and representatives from BeatFreeks to help thorough out the day.

A big thanks to Mrs Janagal and Mrs Harrison for taking the School Council to the Peace Summit at mac Birmingham.

Below are the photos and ideas that the School Council came up with during the Peace Summit.
