Parents’ Guide to Weekly Work

During this period of school closure we will be setting work for your children on a weekly basis. This will be updated on our school website at the end of every week, ready for the following week.

The work can be accessed via the school website as follows:

  1. Access the home page of the school website.
  2. For Years 1-6 select the ‘Homeschooling Years 1-6’ from the left hand menu.
  3. For Reception and Nursery children select the ‘Homeschooling Nursery & Reception’ from the left hand menu.
  4. Pupils are to use their DB Primary log-in. Once logged in they should go to their Year Group home page. (if your child cannot remember their DB Primary log-in, please contact your child’s Phase Co-ordinator)
  5. Within the FILES section of their Year group page you will find a ‘Weekly Work’ file, which provides an overview of the activities for children to complete during the week. The daily English & Math’s tasks are saved separately.
  6. Many of the activities on the weekly work sheet are linked directly to the online resource.

Most of the resources do not need to be printed. Use them for instructions and guidance.

The work we set is a mixture of activities to keep those essential English, Reading and Math’s skills ticking over, along with other curriculum activities to provide a range of stimulating learning opportunities.

On top of the work we are setting, there are a whole range interactive on-line resources and indeed live lessons from BBC Bitesize and Oak National Academy.

In addition to on-line resources there are lots of other family learning opportunities such as:

Cooking & Baking together.

Taking a walk (as part of your daily exercise) and looking for signs of spring. How many different types of tree or bird can you spot. Can you find out the names of the birds and trees you see?

Making junk-models using household waste.

Playing games together.

Drawing things you see around you or in your garden.

Welcome to Barford Primary

Hello and welcome to the Barford Primary School website. We hope that you find it interesting and informative. We are always looking for ways of improving the content & presentation of the site. So if you have any good ideas please let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Barford is in the Heart of Ladywood, just round the corner from City Road Hospital. We have about 450 pupils, aged 3 to 11 years old. We have Before & After School provision and parent/community courses. We aim to provide the pupils at Barford with lots of interesting ‘hands on’ opportunities during their school life. We often have resident musicians & artists working with the children and organise many exciting visits, visitors, competitions & events. Such experiences reinforce the pupils’ learning and help develop a greater enthusiasm for learning.

You’ll find lots of information about the school on the website, along with examples of some of the work we have done. So go and grab a drink & a snack (healthy ones of course) and take a few minutes to find out more about us.

If, as a parent of a pupil attending this school, you require a paper copy of the information on this website, we shall provide this free of charge.
