School Council 2016-17 Blog

Welcome to the School Council blog. In this blog you will see all the fantastic work the School Council are doing at Barford.

Red Nose Day Promo - 13th March 2017

This year the School Council and Mrs Janagal have voted to support Red Nose Day 2017 on 24th March 2017 as one of the School's supported charities.

Every child and staff member will be dressing up in red to support Red Nose Day 2017.

Staff will be participating in a staff sweepstake where staff will have to guess what song DJ Boogie is listening to. The sweepstake will cost £2 a guess and the winner will keep half the money and the other half will be sent to Comic Relief.

There are also a new set of 9 Red Noses to buy. Red Noses will go on sale for £1 from Monday 13th March and are available to buy from the School office. See if you can buy the whole set and complete the Superstar Red Noses collection.

Staff will also be holding a bake off cake sale at 8.15am on Wednesday 22nd March in the School library. Cakes can be home made or shop bought and all proceeds will go to Red Nose Day. Photos of the bake off cake sale can be seen in the School Gallery.

Food Taster Session - 4th November 2016

At Barford we are always looking to add more variety to the school dinner menus.

A special guest, Paul, from the Halal food company visited the school with some Halal food choices. Paul wanted the school councillors to taste the following Halal foods:-

  • Cheese Onion (pastry)
  • Chicken Tikka (pastry)
  • Chicken Veg (pastry)
  • Chicken Nugget
  • Chicken Fillet
  • Chicken Burger

After the food had been tasted by the school councillors, the school councillors voted on their favourite dish:-

  • Cheese Onion (pastry) - 4 votes
  • Chicken Tikka (pastry) - 1 vote
  • Chicken Veg (pastry) - 1 vote
  • Chicken Nugget - 4 votes
  • Chicken Fillet - 1 vote
  • Chicken Burger - 1 vote

The Cheese Onion (pastry) and Chicken Nugget dishes have been approved by the School Council and will be added to the school dinner menu.

Look out for the dishes on the School Dinner Menu in the Spring Term.

A big thank you to Mrs Janagal for organising the food taster session.
