It has been a busy couple of weeks at Barford, There have been a few meetings for parents about our curriculum that have taken place in school recently and thank you to all of you that have attended them. It would be amazing if you could join us for any curriculum meeting as it will help you support your children at home with their learning.

You will also notice our vision statement has changed to:

"Belong. Aspire. Achieve. Inspire."

Thank you for those of you who helped us revise the statement.

I will write to you soon to let you know how we have revised and updated other parts of our school vision. Thank you for your continued support.

You will see this now on all of our paperwork and around school. We invited everyone to be part of the change and it is lovely that our vision has been created by us all (Children, Parents and Staff)

It has been a lovely start to our Autumn term. The children have already had lots of
experiences, including trips and visitors. It has also been fantastic to see so many parents/carers attending the parent meetings we have held so far. I hope you have now all received letters about up and coming events to help you plan ahead and we look forward to seeing you all.

Please...please check that you are able to access MCAS so you receive the most up to date information from us. Also that you can access School Grid so you can order and pay for your child's school dinner.

If I can remind all parents/ carers of children who bring a packed lunch into school not to send in any meat on the bone as this could present a choking hazard. Also we are also a 'nut free' environment as we have children in school who have severe nut allergies, so please don't send in any food that contains traces of nuts eg chocolate spreads etc.

Finally, have a lovely weekend and we will see you safe and sound on Monday.

It has been an extremely busy start to our Summer Term. Year 6 sat their SATS last week and have shown many of our Barford values! They have worked very hard, showing true resilience and ambition.

A big thank you to all Year 6 staff who led our children on their challenging journey throughout the school.

Congratulations also to our Year 1 children, who worked hard with the Royal Ballet during their visit to us a few weeks ago. The children worked really hard and were able to demonstrate their creative flair.

Some of our children were chosen by the Royal Ballet to work with them to further develop their skills. Well done!

Unfortunately, we say goodbye to Miss Wright. She has secured a job in IT and is embarking on a new career. We wish her well in her new journey.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Some of our pupils from Years 3 and 4 have participated in an exciting writer's workshop. Children had the opportunity to meet author Colin R Parsons who provided the children with helpful tips and advice to develop their story
writing. The children showed excellent behaviour and values throughout their trip.

As we come to the end of the spring term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a very busy but highly successful period for our school. The children have worked incredibly hard, and we are proud of all they
have achieved. This term, we have seen great success in our swimming sessions, with many children showing increased confidence and progress in the water—well done to all involved. In addition, our first Spring Fair went really well and enabled us to raise lots of money for our school. We would like to thank everyone who supported and contributed to making it such an enjoyable event.

Miss Maycock will be leaving us at the end of this term to embark on an exciting new chapter in her life including getting married in the Easter holidays! We are grateful for her dedication and the positive impact she has had on our school community in the two terms she has been with us, and we wish her every success in the future.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your continued support throughout this term.
We hope you have a lovely Easter break and look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 14th April as we begin the summer term.

It has been a very exciting halt-term with many things to celebrate. I just want to say a big shout out to our LPPA (Leading Parents Partnership Group), who have held their first few meetings at school and prioritised what we need to do to improve our school. There is now a 'LPPA’ post box by the main office reception, if you would like to post a comment or any ideas to the group to help improve our school. You are also all most welcome at the meetings if you would prefer to do this face to face and help make a difference together for the good of all of our children at Barford.

Our 'pop up' pool has now arrived on school site and we are looking forward to the children in years 1 - 6 taking part in their swimming lessons up to Easter. The children will receive a swimming badge and certificate at the end of their swimming to help celebrate what they have achieved. Please ensure you have signed your consent on MCAS so your children can take part in the swimming lessons.

We say goodbye to Ms Simms, one of our Lunchtime Supervisors, who is leaving to focus on becoming a teaching assistant. We thank her for her hard work and commitment over the years and look forward to hearing about how she is getting on in the future.

Finally, we hope all have a wonderful half-term; please stay safe and warm! We look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 23rd February.

We have been extremely busy over the past two weeks with lots of lovely experiences in school.

We welcome Miss Walker, a professional artist, into school, who is working with the children to help celebrate the work of the prolific artist- Kimmy Cantrell. Over the coming weeks all the children, will be making masks and pictures in the style of Kimmy to help us celebrate Black History month. We are looking forward to sharing these with you on Tuesday 16th December 3.30-4.30, where you are invited to see our 'Barford art gallery' with all of the work that has been produced. We will let you know more details nearer to the time but please keep that date free!

We have also started cooking lessons to support our bid for healthy living! I know the children have had a great time this week making food and I hope you all had a chance to sample this when they brought it home!!!

You can now get up to 30 hours’ FREE childcare for working parents of 3 & 4 year olds. Collect a form from our office or speak to our Business Manager for more information. This week years 1, 2 and 3 have started their cooking sessions. Each year group has made a healthy snack or drink and has practised different skills such as
peeling and chopping. These sessions will continue next week, giving each class this opportunity. We hope you enjoy seeing what the children have created.

This week, we welcomed artist Bethany Walker. Bethany specialises in sculpture and
will be working with the children for a 5 week project exploring the art work of Kimmy Cantrell. This week we created our own Kimmy Cantrell inspired sketches.

We are extremely lucky to be working with Bethany and we look forward to sharing more of our art this half term.

Finally, with the Christmas fair not too far away- we are asking for any donations that
you can spare to sell in our raffle and help raise money for our school. Also, Mrs Lilly and Mrs Danks will be selling raffle tickets from Monday (after school,) for you to guess the name of the staff baby!!!

If you think you could spare a few hours to help us organise the Christmas fair- we would love to hear from you. Please contact Mrs Lilly via the school office. Have a super weekend and hope it is not too wet!

It has been a lovely Autumn half-term and the children have experienced lots of exciting things over the last few weeks. This week has been particularly exciting for year 6 children as they have had the opportunity to visit Birmingham University and were expertly shown around the campus by one of their University student Ambassadors. Lots of the children are really keen to go to University now !!!

We will be starting career afternoons after half-term to further raise aspirations for our children at Barford. As many of you know, we have now opened our nursery full-time this term. A really big thank you to Miss Carrington ( our Nursery Manager )and her staff for navigating this development so well. I know there will be a few more changes coming for the nursery children- including the introduction of Forest Schools- which will be very exciting !

You can now get up to 30 hours’ FREE childcare for working parents of 3 & 4 year olds. Collect a form from our office or speak to our Business Manager for more information.

We have ended the term celebrating the festival of Diwali. It has been lovely to see staff and children dressed in celebration clothing, enjoying craft activities and making Diya lamps.

Eight children from Year 6 enjoyed a visit to meet poet Debra Bertulis. The children were given advice on how to develop their writing skills and have been lucky enough to receive a letter from the poet. I am sure we will see them showcase their new skills in their own writing.

Thank you for supporting my 'parent open door meeting' last week. At the meeting, we discussed how we were introducing the LPPA (Leading Parent Partnership Award) and many parents signed up for this. If you would like to know more about joining this new school improvement group, please contact Mrs Lilly via the school office 0121 464 3765.

Finally have a wonderful half-term with your children and we will see you all safe and
sound back at school on Monday 3rd November.

Well I can't believe we have finally reached the end of the Summer year and then end of the school year!

What a busy year it has been but a very successful one! The swimming has been a fantastic addition to our curriculum this term and it has meant that all children from years 1-6 and Silver Birch have had the opportunity to go swimming in our very own pop- up pool this year. The pool will be returned this time next year so all the children will all be swimming again in their new year groups! Many thanks to Miss
Huggins who has been our Swimming Instructor for 7 weeks and also Mr Hope and all the staff involved who have worked tirelessly to make swimming happen for the children this term.

We sadly say goodbye to Miss Barnett and Mrs Launchbury this term, who are moving to schools closer to home. We also say goodbye to Miss Muflahi who has worked with us over the last 2 terms. I am sure you will join me in thanking all the staff for their hard work and commitment at Barford and wish them the best of luck in their new adventures.

Finally, have an amazing summer break with your children and I hope the sun shines for you all. Please remember, we are hosting a holiday club provision (Dainty Little Hands,) in the holidays so please contact the school office if you would like any further details.

We will see you all safe and sound on Wednesday 3rd September.

It has been an amazing half term with so many success! Year 6 not only completed their SATs tests but have shown so much resilience this term and during the year! Well done to you all and all our wonderful staff who have supported them including parents and carers. We are really looking forward to our swimming pool arriving next half term and I know the children are very excited about their on-site swimming lessons. We sadly say goodbye to Miss Nell this Friday. She is leaving us as she is relocating back to Cornwall and has current family commitments. We thank her for her service at Barford and wish her a wonderful future.

We say goodbye and thank to Mrs Mahmood, one of our teaching assistant and Eager Beaver staff. Mrs Anderson, our Eager Beavers manager will be stepping down as club manager after half-term. She had run the club for many years but she would like to focus on purely on her role as one of our HLTAs in school. Thank you Mrs Anderson, you have been a fantastic leader at Barford!

KS2 thoroughly enjoyed learning and exploring new skills during their time at Blackwell! They were busy completing activities each and every day and particularly enjoyed the swimming and campfire sessions! Phonics LIVE – Cherry Tree Nursery
We had phonics live in nursery last week. It was great to have the parents coming in and seeing their children engage in phonics lessons and seeing how we teach phonics. Remember, phonics live happens every half term, so look out for the announcement and sign up to our phonics live sessions for next half term!

Thank you to all who came to watch our Glee Concert Monday 19th
May. The children had so much fun preforming for you!
