City Of Birmingham BasketBall Taster Session - 9th July 2015

On Thursday 9th July there was a BasketBall taster session for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils provided by COBBasketBall. The taster session included basic dribbling drills and shooting drills.

Carnival - 4th July 2015

This year at Carnival we had the final races of the School's Sports Day events and there was also an obstacle race which parents took part to win a medal.

The annual Parents vs Teachers football match also took place with the teams playing for a Shield. It was a hard fought match with both teams giving it their all. The final result was 6-5 to the Teachers, with Mr Baddhan making 3 fantastic saves to keep the Parents lead at 5 goals. The goal scorers for the Teachers team were:-

Mr Anderson - 4 goals
Mr Lowe - 1 goal
Mr MacDonald - 1 goal

We would like to thank the Parents and Children for attending the Carnival as there would be no Carnival without the participation of the Parents and Children.

Year 1 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 1st July 2015

Year 1's creative curriculum exhibition was about Pirates. There were a lot of activities to do such as making your own pirate ships, creating your very own treasure maps and searching for buried treasure in the sand.

Year 1 also sang a pirate song.

Year 5 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 1st July 2015

Year 5's creative curriculum exhibition was about Anglo-Saxons. There were Anglo-Saxon spiced cakes to eat and Anglo-Saxon play to watch.

Year 5 visit to Aston Villa Football Club - 30th June 2015

Year 5 visited Aston Villa Football Club for the second part of the Villa Vitality course. Year 5 created a healthy lunch (Pasta with Veg) and healthy snack to eat (fruit salad). Year 5 also used the equipment in the ICE Youth Gym to exercise their muscles. Year 5 also recorded a radio programme about what they learned about during the Villa Vitality course. At the end of the visit, Year 5 had a tour of the Aston Villa Football Club.

Year 3 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 30th June 2015

Year 3 showed their work to Parents, Year 4 and Staff about their water topic. There were a lot of activities to do such as designing your narrow boat. Laptops were also used to show PowerPoint presentations about canals.

Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club - 23rd June 2015

Barford are very lucky to have Keith Holt, head of coaching at Birchfield Harriers, to teach the different skills required for individual athletic events.

The photos below show the pupils working on the technique required to throw a javelin as far as possible.

Multicultural Assembly - 22nd May 2015

This year each class chose a country to represent and explored the culture of their chosen country. This included finding out facts about their chosen country such as what flag does the country have? And what language(s) do they speak? What kind of food do they eat?

Barford also had some special school workshops for the children leading up the assembly. The School workshops provided children a chance to learn Asian Music, Spoken Word (Poetry), Brazilian Dance and Street Dance.

Science Boffins visit - 28th-29th April 2015

At Barford we had a special visit from the Science Boffin. The Science Boffin showed fun scientific experiments such as children making their very own ice cream and learning about gases, liquids and solids. The children enjoyed the experiments and had a lot of fun!

We also had 2 rocket launches in the main playground. Watch the video to see what happened.

Bostin Brass Band Performance - 24th April 2015

Barford had a special visit from Birmingham's very own Bostin Brass Band. The Bostin Brass Band entertained the children during 

dinner time in the main playground. The children loved the music and really enjoyed the performances. Everyone at Barford would like to thank Bostin Brass Band for performing for the children.

Perry Beeches IV Sport Leader Handball Tournament - 24th April 2015

Barford were invited to join the Handball Tournament at the NIA. 18 Year 5 children were chosen to attend the tournament. Barford were split into 2 teams Barford 1 and Barford 2.

Barford 1 Team included - Munira, Keilidh, Nicholas, Rishi, Harish, Jaheim, Omar A, Fatou and Siraj.

Barford 2 Team included - Giorgios, Adam, Cameron C, Jeremiah, Summa, Maryama, Saif, Rivoli and Carnel.


Barford 1 had Brookfields, Oratory 1, Oratory 2 and Wilkes Green in their group. Barford 2 had St Edmunds, Chadvale, Oratory 3 and 

James Watt in their group.


Barford 1 results:-

vs Oratory 1     - 4-0
vs Wilkes Green - 0-0
vs Brookfields    - 0-4

Total points: 7

Barford 2 results:-

vs Oratory 3    - 5-0

Total points: 10


Overal Barford 2 came 3rd and Barford 1 came 4th. All pupils that took part got medals and certificates. Well done to all Year 5 pupils that took part. Photos of the event can be viewed below.

Year 5 Villa Vitality - 17th April 2015

Over the last few weeks, Year 5 have been taking part in a six week programme called Villa Vitality to teach pupils about healthy lifestyles and to make healthy changes. The first day of the Villa Vitality programme was held at school on Friday 17th April. This included a fun activity session and an interactive healthy eating session.

The scheme is run by the Aston Villa Football Club in partnership with the Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust. The programme, which has run since November 2005, aims to encourage young people to get involved with sport and to appreciate the importance of eating healthily.

World Book Week Displays - March 2015

Year 4 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 26th March 2015

Year 4 showed their work to Parents, Year 3 and Staff about their Volcano topic. There were a lot of activities to do such as colouring and drawing. Laptops were also used to show powerpoint presentations about Mount Vesuvius.

Year 2 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 25th March 2015

Year 2's exhibition was about the Emergency Services. There were a lot of activities and advice available to Year 1, Parents and Staff. The exhibition had first aiders, a disaster tent, fingerprinters and advice to stop, drop and roll.

Year 1 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 24th March 2015

Year 1 showed their work to Parents, Year 2 and Staff about their Dinosaur topic. There were a lot of activities to do such as match the Dinosaur and digging for Dinosaur fossils. The children also had help from parents to paint the gigantic T-Rex Dinosaur.

The children also sang a Dinosaur song to kick of their exhibition.

Year 5 Creative Curriculum Exhibition - 24th March 2015

Year 5 showed their work to Parents, Year 6 and Staff about their Extreme Environments topic. The children used laptops to show their Extreme Environment powerpoint presentations.

Circus Skills Visit - 13th March 2015

The Circus was in town and visited Barford. The children learned how to perform circus acts such as spinning plates and using the pedal go wheels to balance themselves.

World Book Day Assembly - 6th March 2015

This year's World Book Day Assembly performances were based on books by Roald Dahl (KS2) and Julia Donaldson (KS1 & Reception). Grab some popcorn and enjoy the wonderful performances.

Reception Nativity - 17th Dec 2014

Food Bank Donations - 15th Dec 2014

A BIG THANK YOU to all Parents and Children that made a donation to the food bank. 

The donations will go a long way to help families and individuals put food on the table over Christmas and the coming winter months.

Year 5 Academy of Space visit - 9th Dec 2014

Year 5 attended the Space Academy and lifted off into Space, learning about Space travel.

Children in Need - 14th Nov 2014

Barford celebrated Children in Need by dressing up as a Superhero. A donation of £1 was given by each Superheroes. Children and Adults also donated their 1P's and 2P's by filling the in Pudsey photo.

Barford raised a total of £500 for Children in Need. Well done to all who donated their money for a wonderful cause!
