Phonics Resources
On this page you will find phonics resources for Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 pupils. The resources below will help children with the letters and sounds.
Letters & Sounds / High Frequency Words
A number of parents have asked the School how they can help their children at home with Reading & Writing. We have therefore produced a list of the most common words that children first learn to Read & Write.
Phase 2-4 are the first sounds & words children learn to read & write
Phase 5 are the next most common sounds & words children read & write
High Frequency Words are the next most useful 250 words children require to read & write effectively
{The complete list can be found on our website along with accompanying spelling sheets.}
Children learn at different rates but it is hoped that most pupils will be able to Read/Spell:
Phase 2-4 words by the end of Reception
Phase 5 words by the end of Year 1
High Frequency Words by the end of Year 2
We hope these will be of use to you.
