This year each class chose a country to represent and explored the culture of their chosen country. This included learning the location of their chosen country and finding out facts about their chosen country such as what flag does the country have? And what language do they speak? What food do they eat?
Barford also had some special after school workshops for children leading up the annual Cultural Celebration assembly. The after school workshops provided children a chance to learn Bhangra dancing, African drumming and Salsa dancing. The children performed the dances and drumming at the annual Barford Cultural Celebration assembly.

Barford's School Council have been meeting to decide on the charities that we will support during the coming year and talk about ways of supporting each of the causes that they choose. The first cause is the Macmillan Nurses Cancer Charity who have been holding coffee mornings across the United Kingdom during the past few weeks. The children felt they would like to support this cause as many of us have, or know someone, who is suffering from this terrible disease and know about the marvellous support that these nurses give to the sufferer and their families during very difficult times.
The School Council had a cake sale with the proceeds going to the Macmillan charity and photos of the Macmillan fundraising event are shown below.
The School has raised a total of £310.17. Well done to all who donated their money for a great cause!
You can watch Mr Lee's annual Christmas Assembly below. There are five parts to the assembly. So grab some healthy snacks and make yourself comfortable as you are in for a treat!
Barford were one of the many schools who took part in the Perry Beeches II Athletics competition in the National Indoor Arena (NIA). 6 Girls and 6 Boys were chosen from year 5 to compete in the Athletics tournament.
As the competition progressed it looked like Barford were not going to come with a medal. However due to the "never give up" attitude of year 5 children at Barford. Barford came in first place and won their first indoor Athletics trophy.
Everyone at Barford would like to congratulate the following children on their wonderful performance at the athletics competition; Renaldo, Sean, Jayden, Diego, Ali, Abdoulie, Dorna, Shantai, Farah and Sasha. We would also like to congratulate Mr Anderson (Sports Teacher) on a job well done!
